Storage & Bandwidth

Overview

Digital Content Manager tracks your storage and bandwidth usage daily so you can monitor how much space your files occupy and how much data your customers are downloading.

Storage

Storage represents the total size of all files you have uploaded to Digital Content Manager. Current Storage is always accurate live data. For the graph, previous days storage usage is just a snapshot taken once a day to gather the general trend of storage usage.

Bandwidth

Bandwidth represents the amount of data delivered to your customers when they download files. The total bandwidth figure shown in your dashboard is the sum of all daily usage over the selected time period. The usage history graph shows a per-day breakdown of how much data was downloaded each day.

Bandwith Accuracy

Occasionally, download counts and bandwidth numbers will appear to not match up. This can happen for a number of reasons listed below...

  • Admin user downloads are not counted in download counts, but do count towards bandwidth.
  • Users could cancel the download as soon as it starts. This will lead to a download log, but zero (or very litte) bandwidth usage.
  • Users can download the file multiple times with the link provided after they click download, but only have clicked the download button once. This is not very likely as the tab with the link closes and starts the download very fast, but technically savy users could still get the link. Additionally, the link will time out after 30 minutes, reducing the risk of excessive downloads.
