Product Settings
Most settings apply to your whole store. A few can also be set on an individual product or variant, to override the store-wide value for that product only. For example, you call keys "Activation Codes" on one specific product, or stop one product's returned keys being restocked.
How overrides work
Each product setting has three states:
| State | Effect |
|---|---|
| On | Uses this product's value, whatever your store setting says. |
| Off | Turns the setting off for this product, whatever your store setting says. |
| Not Set | Follows your store setting. This is where every product starts. |
See Setting Priority for every combination.
What a product can override
| Setting | What it changes for this product | Store-wide setting |
|---|---|---|
| Download Button Text | The label on its download buttons. | Button Text |
| Multi-Content Button Text | The label on the button that opens its list of downloads, when it has more than one piece of content. | Button Text |
| License Key Terminology | What its license keys are called, such as "Activation Code". | Extension Title & Terminology |
| Auto Sync Inventory | Whether its Shopify inventory is kept equal to its available keys, and at which location. | Auto Sync Inventory |
| Auto Restock Inventory | Whether returned keys the customer never revealed go back in its pool. | Auto Restock Inventory |
The last three only apply to Download & License products.
Turning a button text setting Off for a product shows the app's default label, rather than your store-wide text.
Settings that aren't per product
- Download limits and time limits are set store-wide, or on each piece of content. See Download Limit and Time Limit.
- Messages, such as the return message and error message, apply to every product.
