Disabling and Deleting Content
There are several ways to stop delivering a piece of content. Choose the one that matches who should lose it:
| To stop delivering it to | Do this | Undo |
|---|---|---|
| One customer | Revoke their access to it on their order. | Restore access. |
| Everyone who buys one product | Unlink it from that product. Past orders lose it too. | Link it again. |
| Everyone, for now | Disable it. | Enable it. |
| Everyone, for good | Delete it. | Can't be undone. |
Disabling content
Disabling content stops anyone downloading it, on every order, past and future, and on every product it's linked to. Its links stay in place, so enabling it again brings everything back as it was.
Use it to pull a file quickly, such as a release with a serious bug, while you prepare a fix. Then replace the file and enable it again.
Deleting content
Deleting content removes it from your library:
- Its file is deleted, and stops counting toward your storage.
- Customers lose access to it on every order, including past orders.
- Its history is kept. Download logs, download counts and limits stay on each order, so your records stay accurate. See Customer Activity.
warning
Deleting can't be undone. To stop delivering content without losing it, disable it instead.
