Content Status

Wherever the app shows linked content, on an order, a product or a piece of content, each link has a status. It answers one question:

Does the customer have access to this content through this link?

The statuses

StatusMeaningWhere you see itTo fix it
AvailableNothing is blocking this content. On an order, the customer can download it right now. On a product, customers who buy it will receive it.EverywhereNothing to fix.
Access RevokedSomeone on your team took this content away from one customer. It affects that order only, never your product or other orders.Orders, and line item links on products and contentRestore access. See Revoke Customer Access.
ReturnedThe line item was returned, so its content is no longer available to that customer. That's a normal part of a return.Orders, and line item links on products and contentIf the return was recorded by mistake, undo it.
Content DisabledThe content itself is disabled, so it's unavailable on every order, past and future, and on every product it's linked to.EverywhereEnable the content. See Disabling and Deleting Content.
Product Disabled / Variant DisabledThe product or variant is disabled, so new orders for it get no content and no license key. Customers who already bought it keep their access, so their orders stay Available. The product's own links, never on an orderEnable the product. See Enabling and Disabling.
UnlinkedThe content was unlinked from the line item after the customer had downloaded it. It's still listed so its download history stays on the order, but it isn't available any more.Orders onlyLink it to the line item again. See Linking Content.

Time limits and download limits aren't part of the status. They change on their own over time, so they're shown separately. A customer who has used up their download limit still shows Available: nothing was taken away, they've used what they were given.

Access can be revoked in two ways, and each is restored separately: the whole line item, covering every piece of content on it (revoking a whole order revokes each of its line items), or one piece of content on that line item. If you restore the line item and the content is still unavailable, restore the content too.

When more than one applies

A link can be blocked by several things at once, such as a returned line item whose content was also revoked. The status names the most specific cause, and counts the rest, for example Access Revoked +1. Hover it to see every reason.

What the status doesn't tell you

  • Whether the customer has downloaded it. See Customer Activity.
  • Whether a time limit or download limit has run out. Those are shown separately. See Download Limit and Time Limit.
  • Whether the product is for sale in Shopify. The status only describes the app. A disabled variant can still be bought in Shopify. See Enabling and Disabling.
